About Dr. Joanna Gardner

Dr. Gardner is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA – Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine) and is Certified in Animal Chiropractic by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA).

Dr. Joanna Gardner grew up in rural Maryland. She discovered her passion for nurturing animals while diligently caring for newborn calves, piglets, and lambs on her family’s farm. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science from the University of Maryland in 2006. Then she attended the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, from which she earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2010. After graduation Dr. Gardner moved to Minnesota, where she practiced primarily on dairy cattle for six years.

When her husband’s job transferred from Minneapolis to New York City in 2016, she needed to change her career focus. Having experienced how chiropractic had relieved the neck and back pain she developed because of her physical job working with large animals, she decided to pursue training in animal chiropractic and other types of holistic veterinary care.  The best part of her job is being able to alleviate pain and improve the mobility of senior dogs without drugs or surgery. Regardless of her geographical location or the species of animals she works with, Dr. Gardner continues to fulfill the mission of her veterinary career:  To improve the well-being of the animals in her care.
